One of the nation’s largest and most successful youth mentoring organizations - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay - seeks an individual to fulfill a meaningful role in our Development Department, supporting the agency Grants Coordinator with corporate and foundation outreach. This internship will provide an interactive “inside view” of Boston’s corporate and foundation philanthropic community. The right intern will gain an understanding of how grantmaking and grantwriting work, will be immersed in the cycle of grant writing, and will develop professional writing skills and competencies in donor relations. Through completion of your Final Project (a full grant proposal), you will learn to write an effective, professional proposal to a corporate or foundation funding source.
Responsibilities:
- Development of a full grant proposal, ready for submission.
- Support with other agency proposals.
- Grant management within our donor database.
- Implementation of our matching grants program.
- Support work for meetings with the agency’s Foundations and Corporate Outreach Committee.
- Engage in day-to-day grant writing and fundraising activities.
Requirements:
- A three-month commitment, 20 hours per week.
- Goal driven Undergraduate or Graduate students preferably with a background in Human Services or Social Work.
- Strong time-management, organizational, and research skills a must.
- Ability to self-motivate and stay on task.
Compensation:
Unpaid. If applicable, experience can be used for class or internship credit.
