One of the largest one-to-one adult child mentoring agencies in the country - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay - seeks an energetic individual to work with a dynamic team, in a fast-paced environment. Participants in the internship program will assist the special events team with activities that help to raise funds through planning, supporting and implementing of special events to meet agency revenue goals.  You will work in a “hands-on” environment with individuals who respond daily to critical community issues.  This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the not-for-profit sector, as well as develop above-entry-level skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support implementation of key logistics and timetables, trafficking information, billing, interaction with vendors and volunteers, and providing administrative support of volunteer event leadership.
  • Provide and ensure accurate data entry and reporting for all special events including Raisers Edge record management, event spreadsheets, and event binders to result in a full event profile.
  • Aid in recruitment of volunteers; and potentially assist with the communication and coordination of all details for event volunteers. 
  • Assist in the preparation and prompt distribution of donor and attendee acknowledgements related to events.  Also offer support of event collateral materials including but not limiting to mailing lists, brochures, and invitations. 
  • Provide other administrative support as needed        

Requirements:

  • Availability to work at least 8 hours per week for the semester.  Will include some evenings and weekends.
  • Goal-driven junior, senior or graduate student
  • Communications, marketing or public relations background preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft programs
  • Strong time-management, organizational, research and interpersonal skills a must
  • Ability to self-motivate and stay on task
  • Event planning experience a plus

Compensation:  Unpaid.  If applicable, experience can be used for credit in internship course.
