This is a terrific opportunity to join the management team at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay (BBBSMB), one of the largest youth mentoring agencies in the country, in a strategic, fundraising Director of Special Events role. BBBSMB matches underserved youth with adult mentors in lasting one-to-one friendships supported by trained professional staff and is currently serving more than 2,000 children annually. The agency is well respected both for its mission and for the quality of its services and its management. A talented, innovative Director is needed to lead the agency’s special events fundraising program.
Reporting to the Vice President for Development, and working closely with volunteer committees, the agency is seeking a Director who will be mission-driven, an initiator, a creative problem-solver, and has a strong work ethic. S/he will have excellent fundraising understanding; is an effective people manager; be a big-picture thinker who is able to explore options in terms of both their short-term and long-term impacts on the fundraising and stewardship goals of the agency; a top-notch communicator who can convey information in a clear and understandable manner to all levels of staff, the Board and other volunteers; and be a team player.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree and seven + years of successful experience in developing and executing revenue-generating special events, four+ years of experience managing employees to success. Experience creating and executing a strategic plan for growth, proven track record of leveraging opportunities, obtaining sponsors and motivating volunteers to increase revenue for existing events and drive revenue for new events, demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently, demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service and apply sound judgment when dealing with donors and volunteers, superior organizational skills and strict attention to detail a must, comprehensive understanding of budgeting and accounting principles, excellent computer skills with knowledge of fundraising software, strong written and oral communication skills, ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment, enthusiasm, creativity, a positive sense of humor and a can do attitude.
