Dear Friend of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay:
I want to let you know about a change in leadership at our agency. After 24 years as President and Chief Executive Officer and 36 years in Big Brothers Big Sisters, John Pearson has decided to move on to a new phase in his professional career. Under John’s leadership, BBBSMB grew from serving 300 children to over 3,000 annually and is the largest one to one adult child mentoring program in the nation. We know all of our agency supporters and those in the many communities in Massachusetts that John helped to serve will join us in thanking him for his tremendous efforts. We have known for some time of John’s intention to move to a
new stage and the transition to new leadership has begun.
The Board of Directors is excited to introduce Wendy Foster as the agency’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 12th. Wendy joined the agency three years ago and has done an outstanding job, first in her position as Vice President for Program Services and most recently as COO. Prior to joining the agency, Wendy spent over 20 years in the for-profit sector including executive positions at America On-Line, Inc, and Time-Life Books. She has a BA from Cornell University and an MBA from The George Washington University. Wendy brings the energy, skill and experience needed to lead the organization through the immediate and longer term challenges it faces in the midst of economic turmoil and uncertainty.
We plan to publicly recognize and celebrate John’s long and valued service to BBBSMB and the Greater Boston community in 2009 so we all can show our appreciation. We will keep you informed of our plans.
The agency continues to need all the support each of us can provide during the challenging times ahead as we all adjust to the economic downturn. I would like to thank the entire BBBSMB family – volunteers, families, Littles, supporters, donors
and employees – for everything you do to contribute to our important mission.
In these uncertain times, the families and children we serve will be even more vulnerable. Your continuing dedication, enthusiasm and financial support go a long way to alleviating the difficulties so many children in our communities face.
Thank you,
Tim Dibble
